Abou Naddara
passionate documentary filmmakers and autodidacts are the film collective Abou Naddar based in Damascus. in 2010 they released their first short film anonymously, a means of circumventing censorship.
since the outbreak of the revolution in March 2011 a short video of 1 to 5 minutes length is uploaded on their [url=http://www.abounaddara.
com/] website [/url] every Friday, the traditional day of the manifestations (after prayer), to show their support of the uprising.
with their work they want to bridge the gap that is created by superficial, biased media coverage and stereotyped propaganda inside the country and on an international level.
in order to meet the standards of a very complex Syrian society, they focus on small stories, inner conflicts, challenging and criticizing their cultures and traditions to sustain humanity that falls victim to more and more atrocities as time advances.
they work in a small group with their own means, with a lot of pressuring issues and pressured by time.
the name Abou Nadarra translates: man with glasses,
figuratively: the man with the camera.
Syria today, Abou Naddara, uploaded on 27 January 2012
