No Holy Cows
This is an interactive poetry based work looking at the idea of ownership and originality of the texts and idea we claim as authors. It aims to demystify the poetic creative process by inviting the audience in conjunction with the two collaborators to subversively or blatantly plagiarise to create a new poetic work. We believe that the social time we currently inhabit as creators of our social realities does not necessarily have solutions to social ills that we have inherited and as co-creators we need to find means to converse about it all even if it means desecrating Holy Cows.
This is a choreo-poem(s), written by us (Pamella Dlungwana and Bandile Gumbi) and we invite the viewer to see each part of the process, from first word by each collaborator to where that word takes us in this process. The notion of play is the base for this experimental work using letters of the alphabet as props to create the poetry live.
Whilst referencing various kinds of technology known to us: books, the internet and our own inspiration placed in our journal, which are looped power point presentation. The collaborators constantly refer to the exhibited research for ideas, words and inspiration during the co-creation of the poem(s).
