Francisco Paco Carrascosa
Francisco Paco Carrascosa (*1958 Valencia/Spain) lives and works in Zurich.
Work style: As a seeker and traveller, I stumble on moments, on non-images, nondescript places, flotsam and wreckage, small worlds. The results are cinematic picture stories from the capitals and the villages, testimonies of everyday life, the ugly and the familiar – testimonies of what people leave behind. I shoot apparent banality, familiarity and trash – everyday objects. Reading between the lines, turning inside out, enlarging the miniscule. Hyperrealism. Calm comes. For me as a Spaniard: whiter than white and more real than real. My artistic reflection of the mass media and its technical potential is rooted in my personal background; identity, migration and transformation are part of my daily life. That is why I am particularly attracted to people, apparent normalities, the stage of pop-culture, the globally familiar and the everyday streets, towns and places. These are part of my research, my tireless experimentation and my work as an artist.
